If you’ve been following my beauty posts, you know that I’m a big fan of false lashes! These two: Red Cherry #43 and Red Cherry WSP are my favorite ones. I usually only wear them for special occasions, not for normal day to day life.
I’ve been hearing about magnetic lashes for a while now, but the thought of them seemed heavy and weird. Finally after another blogger was raving about the Ardell Double Demi Wispies lashes and how she wears them literally every day, I decided to give them a try. I put together a captains log so to speak of my experience:
Day 1- I can’t even get them on… trimmed off one of the very outer edge magnets because they were way to long for my eye. It sort of helped but I still gave up.
Day 2- took me several tries and 10 min but they’re on. After a few hours I believe my exact words were “these eyelashes are making me grumpy” (I might’ve just been hangry though)
Day 3- they’re a hot mess. I can’t get them to follow the contour of my lash line so they’re just sticking out all over the place. The Magnets seem to hold well though!
Day 4- I cut them into individual pieces- they go on so much better (more natural to lash line) but still super time consuming. Olivia swatted some off when we were playing.
Day 5- forgot to wear them. But really, I didn’t forget I just didn’t want to take the time to put them on.
Day 6- Accidentally knocked some off while putting on a turtleneck sweater.
Day 7- getting much faster at getting these on but still wondering if they’re worth it
Day 8- I’m so going to lose these little pieces. Need to find a good storage thing for them.
Day 11- The last couple days I’ve just been putting on one of the pieces- the outer edge one. Is that cheating?
Day 12- my dental hygienist asked if I had lash extensions( also I was nervous about getting dental x rays–will the magnets get messed up? Or will they burn my eyes off?!– it’s fine. I’m fine.
Day 13- I got in the shower with them on- but realized it and took them off before I washed them down the drain.
Day 14- I think I actually really like them!
Day 15- I have started pulling them off in weird places at the end of each night (leaving them on the coffee table or the bathroom counter) and I keep scaring myself thinking it’s a bug.
How to cut:
I probably should have looked up a tutorial on how to do this before I grabbed my scissors, but i just cut them around the magnets into individual pieces (keeping one magnet per piece). I only used three of the four magnet pieces because my eyes are small. Here’s a youtube tutorial (with pretty dramatic music haha) if you want to see someone cutting them up!
How to apply:
There are two strips per eye- one to put on top of your lashes and one to go underneath your lashes. First off I gently place one to rest on top of my lashes. Then I slowly bring the bottom one directly underneath my lashes where the top one is resting. The two magnets should connect. Again, I cut mine into smaller pieces, so I repeat this process with each piece going from the outer edge to the inner edge of my eye.
full strips vs Accents:
I spotted these accents just the other day in the grocery store. I picked them up to see if they were any easier. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had so much practice with the regular ones, but I didn’t have to cut these ones! The downside is that they are not as thick/dramatic as the regulars. I prefer the more dramatic look, so I’m sticking with the double demi wispies.
After a couple weeks of wearing them, they are so much easier to put on. It just takes some practice! Surprisingly, I find that they are much more comfortable than strip lashes. I can wear them all day without them bothering me. With a bit of tweaking I would recommend these (as long as you have some persistence in practicing putting them on).
