After having a baby I’m more convinced than ever about the power of a good concealer. Between night feedings and life with a newborn, I suddenly discovered what real bags under your eyes are! I’ve been alternating between three concealers over the last couple months. They each have thousands of reviews on Ulta and they all are 4 stars and up with a wide ranging price point.
Here’s my take:
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage and Waterproof Concealer-
Get it Here. This was a must have in my makeup routine after having Olivia. It was definitely in my hospital bag. This stuff is heavy duty and by far the most coverage out the three. It’s literally like a paste. A little bit goes a long way (therefore it lasts a long time so the higher price point is not an issue to me). I take a teeny amount and dab (not rub) it under my eye and set with a loose powder. The tricky part with this is that you have to be careful in how you set it, otherwise you’re at risk for some creasing and settling in to wrinkles- they claim that it won’t crease, but I’ve had a couple issues. I love that it it is waterproof and has 48 different shades!
Bottom line- it’ll cover EVERYTHING but can crease
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer-
Get it here. People are obsessed with this concealer, and I’ve been wanting to see what all the fuss is about for a while now. It went on sale 50% off at Ulta a few weeks ago so I snatched it up. I’ve been wearing it exclusively for the last week and trying it with different foundations. So far I really like it. It smells great and brightens my eye. The applicator is huge though so it’s easy to put too much on. I’m curious to see how long it lasts compared to the Maybelline concealer, since the amount of coverage is pretty similar. I probably wouldn’t buy again at full price, but on sale I could be tempted.
Bottom line- good coverage, brightens your eye, but expensive
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
Get it here. I’ve heard that this is one of the best drugstore concealer’s-It’s been a while since I’ve tried any others since this has been my go-to everyday wear concealer for over a year now (read more on my foundation routine) . I actually really like the applicator sponge- you have to “twist” (you’ll hear a clicking noise) it a bunch when you first use it to get the product into the sponge, but after that it’s good to go. I still use a beauty blender to blend it in further. It’s got good coverage, and I think it really does help to cover up dark under eyes. My only complaint is that I go through this stuff really quickly. If you look closely at the picture of me at the top, i’m almost out!
Bottom line- great budget friendly every day wear concealer, but product runs out quickly.
Alright, ladies. Now I want to hear from you! Leave me a comment with your favorite concealer!
