Playing Dress Up Can Teach Us This…

I was gifted a maternity clothing item from PinkBlush in exchange for this review. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

My darling girl has started to get into playing dress up. It’s so cute to watch: she brings me a scarf, hat, or sunglasses to help her put them on. Then she immediately runs to the mirror and does that little girl sway, admiring herself with a sweet and shy smile on her face. She’ll then look to me expectantly, waiting for a kind word and praise.

I’ve seen posts circulating around the internet about how you shouldn’t comment on a little girls appearance- instead focus on her intellect, her bravery, her kindness, and other character traits. While I think this is SO important to teach girls that their value and worth is so much deeper than their outward appearance, simply never acknowledging their unique God-given beauty can leave a gaping hole in her heart. It’s all about balance.

Watching my girl play dress up made me think about what type of example I set for my daughter. Am I teaching her those all important character traits, and also showing her that I love my body? This can be a HARD thing to do, especially in a season where a mothers body changes so drastically— from pregnancy to postpartum and nursing.

As mothers, we can tend to put off dressing our bodies with care because it is such a transitory time.

But when I find a perfect fitting nursing dress or a maternity top that is functional for my lifestyle and still trendy?

I feel put together and great. I truly believe our daughters pick up on that! This is why I’m so excited to partner with Shop Pink Blush.

They offer clothing for every season of life- women’s, women’s plus, maternity clothes, maternity plus.

I have a couple maternity clothing pieces from the Pink Blush maternity clothes line and I wear them ALL the time. They are great quality, and they fit my body and growing bump in a way that is flattering and fashionable.

This top is so versatile- I love pairing it with leggings and my rainboots, but I also plan on rocking it for our next date night with jeans, over the knee boots and a blazer!

mama, give yourself permission to play “dress up” and rediscover the delight of wearing something you feel beautiful in.

P.S. Not that I’m against yoga pants and day 4 unwashed hair- most days I’m rocking some variation of that, especially at home. All I’m saying is that it’s a gift to dress the body in a way that shows appreciation for how hard it has worked to grow and nurture and care for these little ones.

Fall Amazon Try On 2019

Disclaimer: In the name of full transparency, please be aware that this blog post may contain affiliate links and any purchases made through such links will result in a small commission for me (at no extra cost for you!).

Hi Darlings! I recently asked which you would prefer for some fall wardrobe inspiration: either a Target or Amazon try on. The response was almost exactly 50/50! So, I decided to do both!

Check out the Target Fall Clothing Blog post and view the try on video’s in my saved “Target” story highlight on Instagram.

Everything will be linked below the pictures. As always, I’ll give the best to my knowledge honest opinion on items and try to answer any questions you have! I won’t be keeping all of the items (that wouldn’t be good stewardship of our budget- I don’t need all of these clothes) but I like to give you a good variety of options. I would never recommend an item from Amazon that I didn’t try first because you can’t be sure of quality/fit (there were 4 items that I didn’t bother showing you and were sent back for this reason)!

Again, if you find an item you’d like to purchase online, it would mean so much if you shopped through my links. I get a very small commission this way. If you are shopping via your phone, unfortunately I don’t get commission credit through the Amazon app. Instead, some readers disable their app or simply shut it down and open my links through safari/web browser. I so appreciate your support!

My favorite Amazon items for fall 2019:

Super warm, cozy pullover. Not sure how well the fabric will hold up in the washer/dryer. It has 2 Pockets (which add some bulkiness to the front). Wearing size small!

Target Try On Fall 2019

Disclaimer: In the name of full transparency, please be aware that this blog post may contain affiliate links and any purchases made through such links will result in a small commission for me (at no extra cost for you!).

Hi Darling! I’ve got a pretty lengthy try on of some fall favorites from Target! If you have any questions about sizing/fit, etc. please leave me a comment or a message and I’d love to get back to you!

You can get a closer look at the outfits on my “stories” on Instagram soon. It will be saved in the “target” highlight! A few notes:

  1. “TTS” means true to size!
  2. Everything will be linked below the pictures. Some of the clothing items that I used for styling purposes aren’t from Target, but they are linked as well!
  3. I love putting these try ons together, but they do require a lot of time and effort! If you find an item you’d like to purchase online, it would mean so much if you shopped through my links. I get a very small commission this way. If you are shopping via your phone, unfortunately I don’t get commission credit through the Target app. Instead, some readers disable their app or simply shut it down and open my links through safari/web browser. I so appreciate your support!

Happy shopping!

Same cardigan in different colors:

  • Super cozy sweater! By far my favorite piece from the try on. Wearing XS.
  • Same sweater in the color “Mauve”. I sized down for these jeggings.
